- SlaveryScripture condemns stealing people to sell them, set limits on servitude in Israel, and in Christ calls master and servant brothers under one Master. Its deepest word on slavery is freedom from sin.
- Marriage and divorceGod joined man and woman as one flesh from the beginning, and He hates putting away. Jesus says Moses allowed divorce because of hard hearts, and names fornication as the exception. Paul adds that a believer deserted by an unbelieving spouse is not under bondage.
- MoneyScripture does not call money evil. It warns against loving it, calls riches uncertain, and says God gives the power to get wealth. It tells believers to work, provide for their own, give cheerfully, owe no man anything, and serve God, not mammon.
- Women in the churchWomen and men bear God's image alike and are one in Christ. Women laboured in the gospel, prophesied, and taught other women and children. In the church's teaching and oversight, Paul does not permit a woman to teach or to usurp authority over the man, and he grounds this in creation.
- AlcoholScripture speaks of wine as a gift that "maketh glad the heart of man", and Jesus made it at Cana. It condemns drunkenness without exception, warns of wine's pull, keeps leaders from being given to wine, and tells believers to give it up wherever it would make a brother stumble.
- Judging others"Judge not" forbids hypocritical, condemning judgment, not telling right from wrong. Jesus commands "righteous judgment", believers are to know false teachers by their fruits and gently restore those who fall, and the final judgment of the heart belongs to God alone.
- PolygamyGod made one man and one woman to be one flesh, and Jesus points back to that beginning. Scripture records men with many wives, but it records the strife that came with it, and the law told Israel's kings not to multiply wives. In the New Testament each man is to have his own wife, and an elder must be the husband of one wife.
